Dr. Angela Coreil, formerly Angela Cathey, is a distinguished practitioner and trainer in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), with a career in ACT spanning over two decades. Dr. Coreil’s journey into the world of ACT began under the mentorship of William Norwood, PhD, LP, Chad Wetterneck, PhD, LP, and psychologist Robert Zettle, PhD. Dr. Zettle  played a pivotal role in the development of ACT alongside Steven Hayes during its early stages when it was still known as “comprehensive distancing.” As Dr. Hayes’ first doctoral student, Dr. Zettle learned ACT as it evolved and provided Dr. Coreil with invaluable insights into the foundational principles of ACT and the intricate nuances of its application.

Throughout her extensive career, Dr. Coreil has dedicated herself to mastering and refining ACT as her primary modality (often used with exposure-based treatments).
